Here I am

Well world...here I am! I have decided that after being a very avid follower of a few of my blogger friends that it was time to create a blog of my own. I am not sure why I chose to do it as I was never a good writer in school...maybe it is because I feel like I have something to say. I guess I will first start by telling you a little bit about myself.
My name is Ashlee and I am 24 years old, living in Columbus, Ohio. I am pursuing my degree in Healthcare Management. I should have my bachelors next year...I took the 7 year plan in school. Typically the next question is what school do you go to? Well maybe the question should be, what school DIDN'T I go to? I have been all over the area from Lexington, KY to Columbus, OH and finally I am taking online classes. I enjoy the online classes because of the freedom to work full time and there is no test anxiety! You can't have test anxiety when you don't have tests. I know some don't understand online learning, but it works for me. I have a great career at Cardinal Health and I can't wait to graduate. In fact right now I am writing a blog instead of doing homework...one of these days there will be no homework worries and I really can't wait!
My love life...now that's a different story. My love life is something that is actually well beyond that of a typical 24 year old (at least the ones I know). I am currently living with my boyfriend of 4.5 years and we are house hunting. Hoping to one day get married and have lots of babies. If I could have had a baby yesterday then I would have.
House Hunting...they make it look so much less stressful on HGTV. There are so many questions to be answered when it comes to House Hunting: price, neighborhood/location, school district, number of bedrooms, number of bathrooms, basement, and funds to furnish it. I mean it's so hard!!! We haven't had as much luck as we would like. Let me tell you a litter story about the house below...our first dream home....



We saw this house online one day and knew we had to have it. It was in the perfect location to both of our jobs, but also a great school district so when I do have all those babies, they can go to a great school. The house was a bank owned home and after looking at it, we quickly learned that we weren't the only couple interested in it. We began a bidding war. We learned later that week that we lost the war. Well, God must have heard me because a week later, the family that won the war backed out of the house and it was back on the market. We were so excited so we put in a great bid, above the asking price. We found out 2 days later that we got the house. To make a long story short, there had been a mold issue in the house previously due to the fact that it was unoccupied for so long during the hot summer. While the bank thought the mold issue had been resolved, we had another mold test and the results came back unfavorable. We approached the bank and asked them to resolve the issues, all the while not doing out inspection during the allotted time in case the mold issue was not resolved yet again. I mean who wants to throw away 300 dollars on a house with mold right? Well, due to the fact that the bank decided to resolve the mold issue but not acknowledge in writing our request that was submitted within the first 7 days, we were out of our inspection period and they would not grant us an extension. I don't get it...those banks can be ruthless. We ended up getting into a war with the bank and eventually lost our dream home because we didn't want to take the chance of buying a house without an inspection. Yea, Merry Christmas to us. It took a while to get over it and while I wanted nothing more than for the bank to be stuck with that house for years and not be able to sell it due to the mold issues, I honestly hope the family living in it goes unharmed. Mold is a dangerous fungus and can really hurt someone. On a more positive note, we realized that it wasn't the house for us. In order to get the house in the first place, we placed 20K more than the listing price which was at the top of our budget and we never would have been able to furnish it. As my mom always says, "Don't make yourself house broke," meaning you can afford the house and that's about it. So the search continued and we found the house below 3 months later....

The Den...We are going to put french doors on this on both sides! Below is the living room, the kitchen (with granite counter tops), the master bedroom and bath.






We put an offer in on this house and put a down a down payment to take it off the market. This house is perfect for us and is even more proof why the other one didn't work out. The price is lower, the interior is brand new and the house has never been lived in. It's not in the best school district, but we have at least 6-7 years before we would have any kids in school since I am not pregnant now and don't plan to be for a while. We are so excited about this house and wish we were in it yesterday. Can't wait to get that tax credit to really furnish it and throw a great house warming party! I will be sure to keep you updated.
